Indicator notes | Binance futures liquidations totaled $12.72 million over the past 4 hours | Long positions accounted for 13.7% | $BTC ranked first
Definition: Liquidation (commonly called getting liquidated) occurs when unrealized losses on a leveraged position reduce its margin below the maintenance margin requirement, prompting the system to forcibly close the position according to its rules.
How to read this: Don’t use more leverage to try to recover losses; this is often how a string of liquidations begins.
The same figures can mean very different things in different market conditions, so don’t blindly apply a rule of thumb.
