With the same pullback candlestick, someone else only has an unrealized loss, while you get liquidated outright!
What’s the real difference? Often, it’s not judgment—it’s position size.$AKE
Given the same opportunity, one person uses 10% of their funds to test the waters, while another jumps in with half their capital.
When the market rises, both think they got it right. But as soon as it pulls back, the difference becomes obvious.
Those with smaller positions still have room to observe and can cut their losses according to plan if the trend turns against them. Those with oversized positions start to panic: they can’t bring themselves to stop out, but they’re afraid to add to the position. In the end, the market leads them around by the nose.
The cruelest thing about contract trading is that getting the direction right doesn’t mean you can withstand the volatility.
The market won’t avoid pullbacks, sharp wicks, or choppy movement just because you want to make money.
With a small position, volatility is just a risk; with an oversized position, one ordinary pullback can deal your account a serious blow.$AGT
Over the years, I’ve come to understand more and more that what you really need to master in contract trading isn’t guessing the direction right every time, but doing these three things well:
First, manage your position size. Don’t go all in every time an opportunity appears. Leave yourself room to handle volatility.
Second, set your stop-loss in advance. Before opening a position, decide where you’ll exit if your judgment is wrong. Don’t wait until your losses have grown to make a decision.
Third, take profits in stages. Once the market moves into profit, take some money off the table. Don’t let all your gains slip away again.$EVAA
Many people aren’t short on opportunities to make money; they’re worn down by oversized positions and their own emotions before a good opportunity even comes along.
Remember: trading isn’t about who makes money fastest; it’s about who can stay in the market the longest.
