Onchain Detective is back on the job. This time, we're digging into Christos Gkolias: former Engineering Director at Uniswap, now CTO of Metric.

Leaving titles aside, what exactly did he do at Uniswap?

1/
In October 2024, the Unichain testnet launched.
Christos posted that he was honored to lead the engineering team in making it happen.
He was the engineering lead for Unichain.

2/
In February 2025, Unichain's mainnet launched. When Quicknode announced its partnership, it quoted Christos as Uniswap's representative.
At the time, Christos's title was still Senior Engineering Manager, Backend.

3/
In August 2025, he posted a long thread about the team's work on Unichain Flashblocks. But he spoke only in terms of “we,” without specifying what he personally was responsible for:
▌Designed the solution with Flashbots;
▌Integrated the OP Stack, scaled it up, and stress-tested it;
▌Built a block builder running inside a TEE.

4/
Achievements by the team during his tenure (he only reposted these):
▌Web limit orders, February 2024;
▌Browser wallet extension, July 2024;
▌Uniswap v4, January 2025.
On LinkedIn, he wrote that he managed more than 30 engineers across trading, Unichain, web, and wallet, so his team was likely involved in these launches.

5/
To sum up:
From a software engineering internship at Airbnb, to building ad systems at Google; then Engineering Director at Uniswap Labs, overseeing trading backend and Unichain engineering; and now CTO of Metric.

This guy is the real deal.
Extremely bullish on him.
