This KOL “refund” thing felt off after I read his post today.

slingoorio previously posted an apology, saying the trades he called had badly burned newcomers, and that he’d review them one by one and send money privately. One account held up as an example on X had gone from losing thousands of dollars to having just $3.41 left, trading tokens like OMG, LOL, and LMEOW. The comments were full of “real one.”

Then this afternoon, Beijing time, he posted: “From now on, rewards for refs will only go to people holding the ‘main token,’” and then linked the LMAO contract address (around 6,000 views, 118 likes).
That same morning, he’d also reposted: “I lost everything today, sling sent me $100, and I’m back in the game. Never give up.”

To translate: lose everything, get a handout, and the condition for getting that handout is to keep holding his coin—then keep trading once you’ve collected. That’s not compensation; it’s a cashback offer to bring in new users. The money that leaves is probably flowing right back into his own ecosystem.

Maybe he really did send the money—I’m not denying that. But don’t mistake a “conscientious KOL” for risk management. Around 74% of Solana meme coin buyers lose money. That’s the reality.

If you really want to compensate people, don’t make “you must hold the token” a condition.
