Zcash’s 10th Anniversary! ZEC tops $1,300, NU7 countdown: blocks nearly 3x faster 🛡️
Today, 10/28, marks exactly 10 years since the Zcash mainnet launched. On launch day, 1 ZEC briefly traded for 3,299 BTC on Poloniex. ZEC is now trading at around $1,310, up about 5.7% in 24 hours, with a market cap of around $22.3 billion.
On-chain data is even more interesting: around 4.96 million ZEC are currently held in the shielded (privacy) pool, accounting for about 29.1% of the issued supply. On 10/26, 59.48% of all transactions on the chain were shielded transactions, up noticeably from 51.91% 28 days earlier—the privacy feature is seeing real use.
