Why does Bitcoin often say “wait for 6 confirmations,” while Ethereum talks about “finality”?
Ethereum’s finality requires votes from two-thirds of staked validators. If too many validators go offline, finalization pauses, but blocks continue to be produced as usual.
A checkpoint is finalized only when it receives votes from validators representing two-thirds of Ethereum’s staked amount.
