Season 2 of predict.fun’s points program is now underway, and the final snapshot for Season 1 has been taken.
The main changes this time affect market makers who place limit orders.
In Season 1, you earned points just by leaving orders on the order book for long enough. In Season 2, the market-making points for each market each hour are split into two parts.
One part is still based on how long your orders are posted. The newly added part is based on how much of your orders actually gets filled. If none—or only a little—gets filled during an hour, you won’t earn any of these points.
I’m pretty much on board with this change.
Orders that sit on the book without getting filled just make it look more attractive. Awarding points based on fills directs rewards to those who are actually providing counterparties for traders.
For regular users placing orders, the likely result is a deeper order book and lower slippage.
On Tuesday night, the team also disclosed that a small number of users’ wallets had been compromised, with losses of around 400,000 USDT. They’ve promised full reimbursement, and have taken the third-party API documentation site involved offline while they investigate.
The official account previewed that it will announce a long-awaited update today.
Now we’ll see what the announcement brings, and whether fill-based points can boost actual trading volume.
