On the same Layer 2 network, why did transfer fees drop so much after the Dencun upgrade?
EIP-4844 introduced a new type of transaction that carries blobs. Each blob consists of 4096 data units of 32 bytes each, or about 128 KB.
When demand for blobs surges, blob fees can rise too, so Layer 2 fees aren’t always that cheap.
Layer 2 networks pay blob fees to submit blob data to the mainnet, and those fees are also settled in $ETH . Currently, 2361.99.
