According to Bijiie.com, Anthropic has announced its acquisition of Mithril Medicine, a biotech company with just one full-time employee that is researching two rare forms of childhood muscular dystrophy. One of its programs has produced preliminary results in animal studies. Mithril founder Cody Tranbarger uses Claude to handle contracts, analyze data, schedule experiments, and coordinate 11 external labs, with support from a part-time scientific adviser. After six weeks of treatment, mice in the high-dose group had roughly twice the grip strength and muscle strength of untreated mice. Anthropic hopes to advance its first program to human clinical trials as early as the end of 2028. Meanwhile, Anthropic is also working with six organizations, including Bristol Myers Squibb, to assess research and development approaches.
