In brokerage earnings reports, a cooldown in crypto trading doesn’t mean the entire business line is going dark.

According to reports by PANews, good.box, and others, Robinhood generated about $1.424 billion in third-quarter revenue, up roughly 11.8% year over year, while net income was about $476 million, down roughly 14%. Crypto trading revenue fell about 55% year over year, while prediction market revenue grew by about $146 million and options revenue rose roughly 31%. The company is positioning prediction markets and tokenized assets as new growth drivers.

How to read this: It signals a shift in the mix of retail trading, but doesn’t mean crypto demand has disappeared for good—or that prediction markets can replace the returns generated by spot-market volatility. What’s more worth watching is the trend in crypto commissions and active users, along with the regulatory boundaries for prediction markets. For everyday investors, the more practical takeaway is to treat platform earnings as a barometer for the industry and size positions according to your own risk budget, rather than chasing rallies or selling off based on the narrative around a single quarter’s revenue.
