Midday takeaway: A platform making money doesn’t mean everyone trading crypto is making money.
CoinDesk reported on Oct. 27 that Robinhood’s crypto revenue fell 55% year over year, while the company’s overall revenue hit a record high.
Put simply, different parts of a company can tell two very different stories. Don’t see “record-high total revenue” and assume crypto trading is booming across the board; but don’t see crypto revenue falling and conclude the whole industry has no opportunity. Year-over-year figures are also affected by last year’s comparison base. When you read the news, first ask: which part of the business actually changed? Source: CoinDesk RSS. #CryptoWatch
