Coinbase confirms data breach; hackers obtained information on 70,000 users $BTC $ETH
SlowMist officially confirmed the Coinbase data breach: hackers obtained the contact information of more than 70,000 users. The good news is that it’s not yet confirmed whether passwords or funds were stolen. The bad news is that this is enough data to fuel a large-scale phishing campaign.

Honestly, breaches at major exchanges aren’t unusual these days, but each one is a reminder to users: never reuse your exchange password on other websites; don’t rush to click links in emails asking you to upgrade verification or log in again; and enable two-factor authentication if you can—don’t let the hassle put you off.

This is unlikely to have much impact on the market itself, but it’s a real wake-up call about wallet security. Phishing attempts impersonating customer support or using fake websites often surge around the time breach news breaks. Do you regularly change your exchange password? Let’s talk in the comments.
