A friend recently asked me this question, so I thought I’d put together a quick summary.
Litecoin has a maximum supply of 84 million coins, and the block reward is halved every 840,000 blocks—roughly every four years.
Litecoin was originally adapted from Bitcoin’s code. The main differences are its shorter block time, a different mining algorithm, and a larger total supply.
$LTC is indeed Litecoin, created by Charlie Lee in 2011. Currently: 57.45.
