Arqos Capital’s current strategy is to focus on selective private investments.
Francisco Amador, managing director of the investment and private equity firm Arqos Capital, said that Venezuela offers investment opportunities in various sectors, including consumer goods, credit and startups.
However, he noted that identifying attractive businesses to pursue deals with remains “a challenge” for private investors.
He added that the Caribbean nation is undergoing a process of economic reconstruction, although the market’s particular conditions make it harder to find investment opportunities.
It is important to note that Arqos Capital has invested exclusively in Venezuela since 2019, carrying out private equity, venture capital, and real estate transactions.
Francisco Amador said that Venezuela’s appeal lies in the needs that have arisen after years of crisis, as well as the lack of investment in various sectors and the room available for developing new business models.
He also stressed that “great investment opportunities are hard to find in Venezuela,” given that “many owners have no incentive to sell their companies.”
He told Bloomberg Línea that “being Venezuelan and being on the ground are important to investing successfully in Venezuela,” and said it is essential to understand the market’s particularities, business practices, and how regulators operate in order to assess a transaction’s potential and risks.
