Korean stocks surged enough to halt program trading buy orders, while $KORU kept adding leverage
The KOSPI rose about 5%, triggering a 5-minute buy-side sidecar; Samsung Electronics gained over 7%, and SK Hynix rose nearly 6%.
The rally isn’t driven by sentiment alone. SK Hynix’s Q3 operating margin reached 80%, and the company expects the memory shortage to last through 2030. More than half of its production capacity for 2027–2028 has already been locked in under long-term agreements.
But while the local market is hitting the brakes, the 3x product on Binance hasn’t stopped:
1. KORU is up about 9.9% over the past 24 hours and 5.8% in the past hour;
2. KORU open interest is down 5.9% over the past 24 hours, but up 8.3% in the past hour;
3. Long accounts account for 80.7%, the large-trader long/short ratio is 1.66, and trading volume in the past hour is 3 times the 24-hour average.
Local program trading was halted, but KORU, which trades 24/7, has instead drawn in a fresh batch of leveraged longs.
A sidecar doesn’t mean the outlook is bearish; it simply cools overheated order flow. The real concern is that the good news has already been priced in quickly, while the 3x product is still amplifying momentum-chasing positions.
For now, watch just two things: whether the KOSPI can hold on to its gains at the close, and whether KORU’s price can make new highs as open interest continues to rise.
KORU tracks 3x exposure to Korean stocks, not the KOSPI itself, and its leverage is reset daily. #KORU
