How much Bitcoin is one “sat” (sats), as people often say?
Outputs with very small amounts often aren’t enough to cover the transaction fee when spent, and nodes will treat these outputs as “dust” and refuse to relay them under their default rules.
The Bitcoin protocol actually records amounts internally as whole numbers of sats; the decimal amounts shown in wallets are just conversions.
Learning this won’t make me money right away, but it can help me avoid a basic mistake.
Understand the rules before taking action. Don’t make decisions based on gut feeling.
