Crypto.com partners with OG.com to offer eligible U.S. users crypto perpetuals with up to 5x leverage
The Block, 10/27: Contracts will trade around the clock via the Crypto.com App and exchange, with take-profit, stop-loss, and isolated-margin support. Crypto.com says it has registered with the NFA as an introducing broker. The product will be offered through OG.com’s CFTC-regulated exchange, clearinghouse, and FCM framework. Following the CFTC’s move to open the door to crypto perpetuals in the U.S. this May, Coinbase and Kraken (after acquiring Bitnomial) have already launched, with Crypto.com the latest to follow. Nadex has also registered security futures with the SEC, and its CEO says the company is working on single-stock perpetuals as well.
【Viewpoint】
The U.S. “compliant perpetuals” market is shifting from licensing pilots to competition among multiple platforms. Regulatory clarity can encourage institutional and retail participation, but leverage limits are far below those on offshore platforms. The real differentiators will be liquidity depth, margin rules, and clearing reliability—not slogans.
【Opportunities/Risks】
Opportunity: A growing share of compliant derivatives could benefit licensed U.S. exchanges and related infrastructure. Watch whether trading volume shifts away from Coinbase and Kraken.
Risk: Access is limited to “eligible” users, and details have not been disclosed. Even 5x leverage can amplify liquidation risk. CLARITY remains deadlocked, and a change in the regulatory stance could narrow the product’s scope. Watch how risk appetite after tomorrow’s FOMC affects $BTC $ETH volatility.
Do you favor compliant 5x products, or will you stick with high-leverage offshore platforms? Why?
