Perpetuals market watch: two reminders and one reference
Whether to take this trade—the funding rate is more honest than the candlesticks.
For perpetuals, only three sets of numbers matter. Everything else is noise.
1. BTC 80,594; 24h range 79,506–80,705; change +0.23%.
2. BTC open interest (notional): $7.81 billion, 24h +2.98%
3. Account-wide long/short ratio: 2.14
My take: The funding rate is near zero at 0.0100%, and the long/short ratio is 2.14. Leverage hasn't picked a side. If it hasn't picked a side, don't use high leverage to pick one for it.
Execution ranges (based on current price ± market structure, not an old chart):
- Momentum zone: Only consider chasing if price holds above 81,239; otherwise, it's a false breakout.
- Buy the pullback: 79,627–80,110; don't enter if this level gives way.
- No-trade zone: If the 1h candle closes below 79,143, skip this trade.
My position: I only trade pullbacks, not breakout chases. If the structure holds, I can keep a core position; adding requires waiting for the pullback zone.
Data: Binance spot 24h / Binance USDⓈ-M / Yahoo daily (5-day change) / altme_fng / mempool_fees / defillama_chains / coingecko_trending. Missing figures are not filled in.
When memes aren't outperforming BTC, are you still holding them?

Takeaway: A low VIX means volatility is being suppressed, not that risk has disappeared.
Food for thought: Fear & Greed >75 means things are heated—don't add even the first tier of leverage.
