$ZEC Zcash co-founder Sean Bowe dropped a bombshell on October 26: a draft ZIP would end ZCG’s automatic allocation of 8% of block rewards each year and redirect the funds to the Network Sustainability Mechanism (NSM). The reasoning is compelling: ZCG’s treasury already holds about $125 million. At $1,300 per ZEC, that’s 91,453 ZEC plus $8.8 million in cash. It has committed $2.4 million, but spent only $1.53 million in Q1—about $6.1 million annualized. There’s simply more money than it can spend. Another roughly $68.3 million flows in each year, so leaving the tap open would be wasteful. Note: this doesn’t dissolve ZCG; existing assets will still be distributed, and the 80% share for miners and 12% share for holders remain unchanged. NU7 won’t make the November 5 deadline either; this will have to wait for a later upgrade. ZEC is currently around $1,238. In this cycle, the conversation around privacy coins is shifting from price gains to governance. #Zcash #PrivacyCoins
