Thailand has established new approval rules for data centers, with projects to undergo national-level review amid concerns about their high electricity and water use as AI investment surges. According to Sina Finance, applications for new data centers will be accepted in batches under the framework, and developers will submit proposals to a review committee instead of applying separately to multiple departments for electricity and water services and investment incentives. Danucha Pichayanan, secretary-general of Thailand’s economic planning agency, told reporters Tuesday evening that Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul’s cabinet is expected to approve the policy next week.
