Someone asked me: What’s the difference between circulating supply, total supply, and max supply?
I usually answer like this: Since Ethereum’s London upgrade in 2021, the base fee for each transaction has been burned, so ETH’s total supply may increase or decrease. When a coin’s circulating supply is only a small fraction of its max supply, a substantial amount may be released later, so it’s worth looking at the unlock schedule too.

Just my personal opinion—take it with a grain of salt. This isn’t advice.
