When asked: Why are hardware wallets more secure?
I usually answer like this: A legitimate hardware wallet randomly generates the seed phrase on the device during the initial setup, and it will not be pre-written and placed in the packaging. What hardware wallets protect against is the private key being leaked online; if you approve a transaction on the device yourself, the device will still sign it and send it out.
