Analysis: Democrats’ late expansion of the “Red to Blue” plan has repeatedly fallen short
As the U.S. midterm elections approach, House Democrats are moving into increasingly red-leaning districts. According to Odaily Planet Daily, POLITICO analysis shows that since 2018, Republican-held seats placed on the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee’s “Red to Blue” list in September or October, as Election Day nears, have never been successfully flipped by Democrats. Between 2018 and 2024, among the 28 candidates added to the list in the final two months of campaigns, only 3 Democrats won, and all of those victories were in open seats already held by Democrats. Over the past four election cycles, 73 of the 203 candidates on the list succeeded in taking seats from their opponents.
