ETFs are dumping, while institutions are buying the dip? Strive adds 6,182 BTC against the trend!
Today's data is deeply divided: ETF funds are flowing out on one side, while publicly listed companies are going on a buying spree on the other.
Data for October 27 shows that Bitcoin ETFs saw net outflows of 2,123 BTC in a single day, while Ethereum ETFs also recorded net outflows. But looking at the seven-day period, Bitcoin ETFs still had net inflows of 3,344 BTC, indicating that the short-term outflows have not reversed the weekly trend.
The real highlight is on the publicly listed companies' side. U.S.-listed company Strive added 6,182 BTC between October 17 and 23 at an average price of $82,732, bringing its total holdings to 43,000 BTC. Over the same period, BitMNR added 10,452 ETH, bringing its total holdings to 6.05 million ETH, worth approximately $14 billion.
From an expert's perspective, this divergence suggests that the two types of investors are playing by different rules. ETF investors are more focused on macro hedging and are heavily influenced by interest rate expectations and short-term volatility. Public companies like Strive, on the other hand, are pursuing long-term corporate treasury strategies, valuing BTC for its potential to hedge against inflation and preserve asset value in the future.
What can retail investors learn from this? Don't be spooked by short-term ETF outflows. Institutional investors also seek shelter amid macroeconomic uncertainty, but institutions with genuine long-term cash flows may view pullbacks as opportunities to build positions. Manage your exposure, follow the direction of long-term capital, and don't become a casualty of chasing rallies and selling off in downturns.
