Binance futures liquidations totaled about $2.05 million over the past hour, with longs accounting for 36.6%. The largest liquidation was $ETH ($726,000).
Let’s use these figures to break down what’s happening with liquidations.
Binance’s public liquidation data is a snapshot: it only pushes the latest update for each trading pair once per second, so the actual liquidation amount may be higher.
When liquidation amounts are very large, market sentiment is often highly charged too. Rushing to place an order at that point can mean chasing the market at its most volatile extreme.
The same figures can mean very different things in different market conditions, so don’t blindly apply a single rule.
