Saw this on CoinDesk: Solana client Firedancer, built by Jump Crypto, has changed the submission requirements for its bug bounty program: for every report you submit, you must first permanently burn 1 SOL (about $100).
The catch: invalid, out-of-scope, and duplicate reports are non-refundable; if you don’t burn the SOL, you’re not eligible for a reward. The context: a million-dollar audit contest this spring received 809 reports, but only 127 independent security findings; nearly half of the valid submissions were duplicates. Jump thinks AI was involved in writing or finding bugs in almost every report. The backlog peaked at 299 unprocessed reports. In the words of Jump’s Ishan Bhatt, roughly: AI has made finding bugs cheap, but judgment is still expensive.
Meanwhile, rewards are also going up: qualifying findings are worth double through 11/20, Alpenglow-related findings triple, and critical Alpenglow findings could earn up to around $300,000.
AI has turned white-hat submissions into a flood of “spam” too—and the team can only try to hold it back by burning tokens.
