BTC is still hovering around $80,000, while MicroStrategy and crypto-mining stocks have already rolled over in U.S. markets.

Many are waiting for a high-volume breakout in the broader market, but the way capital flows are transmitted often works in reverse: the money most sensitive to macro liquidity isn’t from retail traders on-chain—it’s institutional money in U.S. equities. With the FOMC meeting just around the corner, crypto stocks in the U.S. are already weakening, suggesting that portfolio investors are pulling liquidity and moving to safety ahead of time.

BTC is still managing to hold sideways around $80,000, not because spot buyers below are particularly strong, but simply because leveraged traders are still battling it out with funding rates elevated. Once genuine buying demand from outside the market dries up, all that’s left on the order book is paper depth.

Don’t mistake sideways trading for support. When U.S. stocks start falling first, spend less time looking at chart patterns and pay more attention to your spot holdings.
