Visa announced three capabilities for commercial card growth, virtual card security and payment automation in San Francisco on Oct. 21. According to ChainCatcher, the offerings are aimed at financial institutions, fintech companies and businesses. Darren Parslow, global head of Visa Commercial Solutions, said companies are accelerating the automation of payment-related tasks, from identifying supplier opportunities to approving invoices and executing transactions. He said the capabilities are designed to provide the data, security and controls required for those processes.
The offerings comprise SESA 2.0, Visa Commercial Fraud Solutions and live pilots with billing platform BILL and accounts receivable platform Billtrust. SESA 2.0 combines AI supplier scoring, Visa commercial payment data, buyer benchmarks and commercial value modeling to identify suppliers more likely to accept commercial cards and estimate growth opportunities. Visa said SESA has helped financial institutions identify more than $600 billion in potential cardable spend since its launch.
Visa Commercial Fraud Solutions includes supplier verification, 3-D Secure authentication for commercial virtual card users, and transaction-level controls covering spending, merchant category, location and time. Payment controls are available to eligible issuers in supported countries and regions; the other two features are in pilot, with a full rollout planned for 2027. Visa said its pilots with BILL and Billtrust are live, allowing trusted AI agents to initiate and help complete approved invoice payments through supplier portals using tokenized payment credentials rather than shared supplier portal login details.
