Everyone uses Curve. Almost nobody wants to own $CRV right now.

That disconnect is the whole story — and with the Fed deciding tomorrow, the next 48 hours will test which side of it is wrong.

THE NUMBER THAT MATTERS

Curve's lending business just had a strong quarter. Active loans jumped 68% in Q3, from $42.18M at the end of June to $70.9M at the end of September — while active loans across DeFi as a whole fell 13%.

LlamaLend v2 did almost all of the work, accounting for about 84% of Curve's net lending growth. And it is still expanding: mid-October saw the first v2 market accept an LP token as collateral (reUSD/sfrxUSD, 3M crvUSD borrowing cap), Curve's Week 43 update raised the sDOLA borrow cap from 12.4M to 25M crvUSD, and a vote to double the sreUSD limit to 60M crvUSD closes on October 29.

THE OTHER SIDE OF THE LEDGER

While lending grew, Curve's DEX TVL fell — from $1.299B at the end of September to $1.165B on DefiLlama's Curve DEX page. And $CRV itself sits around $0.335 on Kraken, down about 2% in the last 24 hours.

Lending up, TVL down, token flat. That is not a clean bull case, and anyone selling it as one is skipping half the chart.

THE RIVAL PLOT TWIST

Meanwhile, Uniswap changed the game on October 22. Its new aggregator hooks wrap external liquidity — including Curve's — inside Uniswap v4 pools, with flow feeding protocol fees that support $UNI burns.

Curve's liquidity is now showing up inside its biggest rival's interface, and the routing value accrues to the other token. Curve still wins the plumbing argument for large stablecoin swaps. It is losing the argument about who gets paid for it.

LEVELS TO WATCH

Check the $CRV chart and you will see the line everyone is watching: around $0.33 underneath, with trader Michaël van de Poppe flagging a sweep below $0.3275 on October 26 as the setup to watch, and $0.38 as the first resistance above.

Between them sits a $0.36 cluster of moving averages that has capped every bounce lately. So the scenarios into the FOMC decision are simple: a hold above $0.33 keeps the lending-growth story alive, a reclaim of $0.38 would be the first sign the market believes it, and a clean break below $0.33 leaves very little underneath.

THE HONEST RISK

Do not ignore the other side. CRV still inflates at about 4% a year, a slow bleed holders have to outrun. LlamaLend already showed its tail risk last October, when a CRV-long market was left with bad debt after the flash crash. And Uniswap v4 is now attacking Curve's core stablecoin business directly.

Here is what this really means: using Curve and owning CRV are two different bets right now. The protocol is proving it can grow a lending business. The token has not yet proven it can capture that growth.

That proof, one way or the other, starts at $0.33.
