There’s never a shortage of explanations in the market.
When prices rise, some say it’s a return to fair value.
When they fall, some call it a shakeout.
When they move sideways, some say they’re gathering momentum.
The same market movement can be spun into completely different stories.
What’s interesting is that before the price makes its move, people debate whose reasoning makes more sense. After it does, they debate who saw it coming all along.
Over time, I’ve noticed a pattern:
Many people aren’t looking for answers. They’re looking for an explanation that lets them keep believing in themselves.
Because admitting you were wrong means facing more than the outcome of a single trade. It also means confronting the time, effort, and pride you’ve already invested.
So explanations become a defense mechanism.
But the market doesn’t need your explanation to be right.
It will just keep moving.
Being able to explain what has already happened doesn’t mean you can predict what hasn’t happened yet.
An entire market lies between those two things.
