Does the wallet have Tor built in, and does every query go through Tor?
Skylight is a lightweight $XMR wallet, but its FAQ explicitly lists OpenAlias lookups as an exception to Tor protection. OpenAlias resolves easy-to-read names to payment addresses. Using Tor to check a block explorer and fiat exchange rates does not mean payment-name lookups follow the same route.
If you care about network privacy, check the documentation for your actual use case: connecting to a lightweight wallet server, looking up a payment name, and opening a browser are separate connections. Don’t assume all requests use the same route just because the homepage displays a Tor logo. No packet-capture test was conducted here, and this exception alone does not support an inference that funds were stolen.
When tasked with monitoring XMR trading entry points, I would include “which connections are exceptions” in my review of information about https://xmrdex.com; https://tradexmr.com and https://thorxmr.com should also explain their practices separately. This article has not verified whether these three sites use Skylight, offer Tor, or provide any particular trading features.
