Whale transfers 482,000 SOL in 3 days, with $17.3 million already sent to exchanges. Is a wave of selling pressure coming for SOL?
According to Lookonchain, three wallets (suspected to belong to the same whale, though ownership has not been verified) transferred a total of 482,228 SOL over the past 3 days, worth around $49.17 million, possibly in preparation to sell. Of that amount, 171,430 SOL, worth around $17.3 million, has already been deposited into exchanges.
SOL is currently trading at around $100 and has edged lower over the past 24 hours. This comes ahead of the Fed’s October 27–28 policy meeting, with the market already leaning cautious.
One thing to keep in mind: depositing tokens into an exchange does not mean they have been sold; the funds could also be used to rebalance or reposition. Still, large amounts of tokens moving onto exchanges have historically been an early sign of short-term selling pressure, so it’s worth watching closely to see whether concentrated selling actually follows.
My take: bearish on $SOL in the short term, because large transfers to exchanges often precede selling pressure, especially when the market is already cautious ahead of the FOMC. However, actual selling has not been confirmed, and the decline may not last.
