Where does a transaction wait after it’s broadcast and before it’s added to the blockchain?
After being broadcast, a transaction first enters the transaction pools (mempools) of various nodes, where it waits to be selected by a miner or block producer and included in a block.
Bitcoin supports Replace-by-Fee (RBF): you can replace an unconfirmed transaction by creating a new one with a higher fee that spends the same inputs.
When managing your position, the most important thing to remember is to check the current fee market before sending bitcoin and set your fee rate accordingly. If it’s too low, you may have to wait a long time.
