A new player has entered the institutional Bitcoin yield market. HoneyB has raised $5 million in a seed round, with participation from Anchorage Digital.

Rather than having users sell their Bitcoin, its model uses native BTC as collateral to borrow stablecoins, which are then invested in real-world funds targeting an annualized return of around 12% to earn the spread. Users retain exposure to BTC price movements throughout. The platform supports integration with third-party custodial accounts and requires no cross-chain transfers, better aligning with institutional requirements for compliance, custody, and asset security.

At its core, this model combines long-term Bitcoin holdings, collateralized lending, and RWA yields. But 12% is only a target annualized return, not a guaranteed yield. Liquidation thresholds, the performance of the underlying funds, counterparty risk, and custody risk are all key areas institutions must assess before committing capital.

The key questions going forward are whether the actual spread can be sustained and whether the platform can secure more compliant custody arrangements and institutional partnerships.
