Akash Network wants to leave its own blockchain behind. And its next destination could be Solana. 👀

The team behind Akash, a decentralized marketplace for computing power, has selected Solana as the home for its next chapter.

Instead of maintaining its own Cosmos-based blockchain, Akash plans to rebuild its marketplace directly on Solana.

Running a blockchain comes with costs and responsibilities. Akash says moving to Solana could reduce the work of maintaining its network and the amount of AKT tied up in staking.

That's an interesting shift. Having your own blockchain gives you independence, but it also means maintaining the infrastructure that keeps everything running.

Moving to a shared network could let Akash focus more on its actual business: connecting people who need computing power with those who provide it.

But there's an important detail:

Akash's core team still needs to submit its migration proposal for on-chain governance approval. Audits, testing and a later decision on the actual switch are also ahead. No migration date has been announced.

The bigger question is whether maintaining a dedicated blockchain is worth the effort when another network can provide the infrastructure.

Akash has made its preferred choice. Its community still has a say.
