【LINK has sunk into deep waters. First, I’m asking whether it can still “land gigs”】

I still have a little LINK in my portfolio. Seeing it down 78% from its ATH still makes my fingers itch; but the scar from selling at a loss back in 2017 is more persuasive than any “oversold” slogan.

LINK’s core function is as an “oracle”: a smart contract is like a chef who never leaves the house, and an oracle is the one who goes to the market to shop and check the goods. If a contract needs off-chain information like prices or interest rates, it has to rely on this data service layer.

Here’s the key point in practice: people using an oracle doesn’t necessarily mean value flows back to the LINK token. DeFi users benefit from more timely data, projects pay for the service, and node operators earn rewards from genuine demand. Token holders, meanwhile, need to ask whether that demand can last and whether the token can capture the value. Without that final link, the protocol can be buzzing with activity while the token gets left out in the cold.

So when I look at LINK now, I don’t start by asking whether it can return to its peak. I look at three things: Are oracle calls actually increasing? Is demand sustainable? Can the token capture the value? Active trading volume only tells you there are still people at the poker table; it doesn’t mean the chips have finished changing hands.

What’s your mindset right now? After a drop like this, is it “so cheap I can’t sleep,” or “cheap is still just cheap”? Me? I can talk a good game, but when I get back to it, my fingers will still itch.
