Let’s talk about isolated and cross margin.
On Binance USDⓈ-M futures, you can’t change the margin mode for a trading pair if you have an open position or order for that pair.
To be honest, I only learned this later: if you choose cross margin, don’t transfer all your funds into your futures account—only transfer the amount you plan to trade with.
