$TRUMP The market is in a panic… These large-cap stocks have lost as much as 47%: opportunity or trap?

The U.S. market has retreated from its record highs, but there’s no panic. Some large-cap stocks have fallen much further than the index. The S&P 500 closed on Friday, October 23, at 7,623.68 (-0.52%), about 2.8% below its 52-week high (7,844.52) and about 2.5% below its record closing high (7,818.93 on October 6). It lost about 0.5% over the week. The fear gauge, the VIX, is trading near 19 (19.04 on Monday morning, according to the screener). It has risen about 28% over the past month, but remains well below its 52-week peak (35.3), suggesting tension rather than capitulation. That’s what the InvestingPro screener shows for U.S. companies with market caps above $50 billion, whose shares have fallen at least 15% from their highs, have an RSI below 42, and offer at least 15% upside to analysts’ price targets. A total of 60 stocks matched; here’s a selection, based on a snapshot that may lag live prices.
