【Market Flash】Clicking to speed up a transaction could put your bitcoin in a hacker’s pocket. Electrum announced on October 24 that malicious servers hold back real transactions and replace them with fake ones that pay the attacker. Older versions don’t verify unconfirmed signatures and only display the fake transaction. When you use RBF to increase the fee, the fake transaction gets signed as if it were real. Someone was affected on October 18; the issue has been fixed in version 4.8.3. Upgrade first, then verify the address.
Do you still use the default server to transfer coins?
