Meme market: which moves first, leaders or small caps?

I only pay attention to memes when there’s independent buying. Otherwise, I treat it as volatility.

For memes, first check whether the leaders have volume, then see whether the small caps dare to follow.

PEPE 0.00000444 (+1.60%), DOGE 0.0769 (+0.21%), WIF 0.1795 (+0.00%), SHIB 0.00000483 (-0.82%)

For comparison: BTC 80178 (24h -0.46%).

PEPE is clearly outperforming BTC over 24h, up +1.60% versus BTC at -0.46%, which indicates independent buying. But BONK is only at -1.65%, so there’s no sector-wide confirmation. I’m only trading the leader, not betting on a catch-up rally.

BTC is still at 80178 (-0.46%). Until BTC gets above 80,819, I consider any meme move to the upside noise.

If the gap between the leader and the weakest one narrows to within 2 percentage points, independent buying has disappeared, and I’ll close the position.

Are you waiting on the sidelines for a pullback, or are you already in?

Useful fact: BTC settlement finality depends on the longest chain, not on who in the group chat is first to call a rally.
Thought: VIX<16: if U.S. stocks are grinding higher, you can follow the sentiment; reduce your futures position by one notch first.
