As $ETH plunged from $2369 to $2296, down 2.37% in 24 hours, I noticed an on-chain signal that most people overlooked: during the two or three hours when the price fell hardest, net ETH inflows to exchanges didn’t increase in tandem. Instead, several large transfers of more than 8,000 ETH each moved from exchange wallets to cold wallet addresses that had been dormant for over six months. This doesn’t fit the typical profile of retail panic selling at all—true panic sellers send their coins to exchanges, but right now, coins are moving out. I also noticed that several whale addresses that accumulated ETH near $2200 in the previous cycle made small, staggered purchases near the 24-hour low of $2296. Each transaction was small, but they were frequent, as if deliberately buying the dip. Combined with $5.8B in trading volume—a level that doesn’t indicate a panic-driven surge in volume, but looks more like a controlled shakeout. My guess is that ETH will continue to chop around between $2280 and $2320 in the short term. But if exchange net outflows remain positive over the next 48 hours and those cold wallet addresses stay inactive, this drop is probably a fake-out, with a likely rebound to $2369 and even a possible test of $2400. On the other hand, if those addresses that made the large transfers suddenly send the coins back to exchanges, that’s a whole different story. Let’s wait and see. What do you think?
