DOGE and SHIB—are they moving in the same direction this time?

Looking at just two samples: Binance spot DOGE/USDT and SHIB/USDT, at 10:19 Beijing time, rolling 24-hour percentage change.

The result: DOGE −1.53%, SHIB −2.02%. Both are down, so they’re moving in the same direction; SHIB is simply down a bit more, with a difference of about 0.49 percentage points.

Let’s be precise: when both are down, that difference in magnitude is not “opposite movement,” nor is it “divergence.” Don’t say the two are moving separately just because “SHIB is down more”—that confuses a difference in magnitude with a difference in direction.

There’s only one way to tell whether their directions have diverged: one must be up and the other down. Check just that next time.
