Connecticut tax preparer Yuridia Trujillo has been accused of claiming cryptocurrency losses for clients who never owned the assets. According to Odaily, the IRS says her business, Yuri’s LLC, filed at least 4,335 tax returns from 2017 to 2024 that allegedly also misstated retirement contributions, dependent-care expenses, business information and rental-property details.
The indictment alleges that Trujillo used Form 8888 to direct some clients’ tax refunds to her own bank account and an accomplice’s account. A federal grand jury indicted her on October 7, and law enforcement arrested her on October 9. She faces 19 counts related to false income tax returns and was released on $50,000 bail pending trial.
