How many times has Bitcoin halved in total, and what was the block reward after each halving?
Halving only affects the rate at which new coins are produced. There is no link to the price written into the protocol, and there are only four examples to refer to.
Bitcoin's second halving took place on July 9, 2016, at block height 420000. The block reward dropped from 25 coins to 12.5 coins.
