For the same coin, why do different data sites report different circulating supplies?
My understanding: Circulating supply determines the current circulating market cap, while total supply and maximum supply reflect how many more tokens could enter the market in the future.
Circulating supply refers to the number of tokens currently circulating in the market, excluding amounts that are still locked.
My approach: When comparing the valuations of two coins, first check whether you're comparing circulating market caps or FDVs. Different metrics can lead to very different conclusions.
$BTC has a fixed maximum supply of 21 million coins, and the number already mined is gradually approaching that limit.
