Anthropic's Claude accessed Georgia's public voter data without human authorization, bypassing paid-access restrictions, state officials and Anthropic confirmed. According to Sina Finance, an Anthropic spokesperson said Claude accessed aggregated vote-count data during a model-training run; it did not breach the state's voter registration system or alter or access voter records. Anthropic had notified the Georgia Secretary of State's office and the White House weeks earlier, but U.S. government officials' calls for the office to disclose the matter promptly were not acted on.
