Those FOMO screenshots you see all over your timeline every day? They’re the top 1% advertising the platform.

Someone dug up an on-chain study: Of the 829,000 wallets that traded FOMO on Solana, 90% lost money after fees. The median wallet put in $130 and lost $25. The top 1% took 94% of all profits.

What really hits me is that median figure. You put in $130, and it’s not some dramatic liquidation—it’s a slow bleed, eaten away bit by bit by fees and slippage. You think you’re trading, but really, you’re paying a membership fee.

Then there’s that chart making the rounds tonight, claiming “88% of traders lose money.” It says 96.5% for FOMO, which doesn’t even match the 90% in this study. No one can pin down the source, but everyone shares it because it says what you already knew deep down. The numbers are debatable; the conclusion isn’t.

Who’s guaranteed to make money? The platform, which collects fees on every trade, and the few accounts at the top of the leaderboard. The leaderboard isn’t a report card—it’s a customer acquisition page.

Next time you see someone showing off a 10x, ask yourself: Are they one of the 1%—or were they hired by the 1%?
