According to CoinDesk, crypto advocacy group Stand With Crypto (SWC) reported that from May to August this year, UK consumers submitted 10,092 complaints through its online tool about banks restricting cryptocurrency purchases. The complaints involved 9,800 users and covered all 650 UK parliamentary constituencies.

Among banks, Lloyds Banking Group (including Halifax and Bank of Scotland) received 2,297 complaints, about 23% of the total. Barclays and NatWest Group received 1,569 and 1,278 complaints, respectively.

SWC noted that some banks have explicit limits on cryptocurrency transfers, while banks such as Chase, Starling and TSB were listed as imposing a blanket ban on related transactions.

SWC also emphasized that the complaints came from consumers who actively used its online tool, rather than from a representative survey of bank customers, so they cannot be used directly to determine the actual complaint rates of individual banks.
