If an XMR node stays online all the time, does that mean it is already mining?

A computer syncing the Monero blockchain and helping relay transactions does not mean it has started mining coins for you.

The official website explains node work and mining separately: a node verifies network rules and receives and relays transactions; a node can also choose to participate in creating new blocks, and that is mining. The node program’s reference documentation also separately lists the operations for starting and stopping mining.

So, before calculating $XMR equipment costs, first confirm whether you are running a node, a miner, or both. Simply seeing the sync height increase or the computer stay online continuously is not enough to record an expected mining income. Running a node is valuable for supporting the network and for self-verification, but do not misplace those values into a miner revenue sheet.

Likewise, looking for an XMR trading entry point and running a node are different needs. When paying attention to https://tradexmr.com by request, I separate the service description from local software responsibilities; https://xmrdex.com and https://thorxmr.com also need to be verified individually, and this article does not claim that the three sites provide node or mining services.
