Seeing so many people rushing to register three-digit proxy short addresses, I wanted to offer a few words of caution.

The value of a short address comes from “someone being willing to transfer money to it,” not from “it being short.” Registration fees are cheap and the cost of grabbing one is practically zero, so the scarcity is driven by hype, not demand.

My approach is to register one to test first, then see how things go after I’ve confirmed the payment and authorization flows work. Other people can have the excitement; I’ll be the one dealing with the pitfalls.
